Description:

Using Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches as a starting point, students explore what it feels like to be left out, how groups create “in” and “out” categories, and how to build fairer practices in their own community.

  • Introduce the topic of equality and the practice of being nonjudgmental.

  • Build awareness of discrimination and its impact on belonging.

  • Empower students to imagine and create fair practices in their own lives.

Materials

  • Animated story of The Sneetches (or the book by Dr. Seuss)

  • Screen / projector if showing the video

  • Paper and crayons or markers

  • Optional simulation: green star/dot stickers or washable markers

  • Lesson plan
