All About Me

SEL Domain(s): Self-confidence

Grades: 2-8

*Lesson may need to be modified to meet the specific needs of students

Description:

Each child creates their own small book titled "All About Me," using drawings and magazine pictures to share who they are, what they love, and what they hope for. The lesson builds literacy, creative thinking, and self-recognition all at once.

  • Notice and name things about themselves—family, favorites, dreams.

  • Practice early literacy by writing or copying simple titles and labels.

  • See themselves as the author and artist of their own book.

  • Stapler (facilitator handles)

  • Pencils, markers, and crayons—be sure to include a full range of skin-tone markers and crayons

  • Child safety scissors

  • Glue sticks

  • A pile of old magazines with kid-appropriate images
