Cross the Line

Description:

Students silently step across a line on the floor for each statement that rings true for them (e.g., "I feel safe at school," "my opinion matters"), observing who else crosses, then choose one statement that impacted them to write about privately before sharing with a partner.

Materials

  • A line on the floor (tape, string, or a natural seam) to mark the threshold

  • Printed list of "Cross the Line" statements for the facilitator

  • Pens/pencils and paper or journals for personal narrative writing

  • Optional: printed copy of the statement list for each student

  • Lesson plan
