Anger Choice

SEL Domain(s): Self-control

Grades: 3-8

*Lesson may need to be modified to meet the specific needs of students

Description:

Students will reflect on how they personally experience and handle anger, hear how their peers describe theirs, and explore what healthy responses to anger can look like. The lesson uses movement-based choice activities to make anger something we can talk about openly.

  • Recognize their own patterns when they're angry.

  • Hear that peers experience anger differently, and that's okay.

  • Practice noticing healthy responses to anger.

Materials

  • Open floor space (students will physically move to different sides of the room)

  • Chart paper or whiteboard for the closing brainstorm

  • Markers

  • Optional: signs labeled "A" and "B" (and "C," "D" for situation rounds) posted on different walls

  • Lesson plan
